Leo Triplet
We are in the constellation of Leo. This area of the sky is characterised by a large number of double and variable stars; being far from the “trail” of the Milky Way, it also allows deep-sky objects beyond our own galaxy to be observed. Indeed, galaxies and galaxy clusters can be seen here: one of the most famous and easy to find is the “Leo Triplet”, made up of two Messier objects, M65 and M66, and a third galaxy designated NGC 3628. All three galaxies are spirals; NGC 3628 in particular appears almost perfectly edge-on, offering a particularly striking view.
