C/2018 Y1 & NGC 2903
This is a comet discovered in 2018 by Japanese amateur astronomer Masayuki Iwamoto. The photo was taken on 13/02/2019 at 20:57 local time, as the comet passed near the galaxy NGC 2903. The object follows an orbit that brings it back near the Solar System every 1,371 years; during this pass, its orbit brought it to a minimum distance from Earth of “only” 45 million kilometres.
